I’m not an agency. I’m not a consultant who learned marketing in a classroom. I’m a guy who put himself through college working construction, kitchens, and bars — and never stopped working since.
I graduated from SUNY Oswego with a degree in Broadcasting and Mass Communication. While I was there I interned at 98 PXY radio in Rochester and served as president of my Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chapter. Coming out of Oswego I was ready. New York City didn’t care. You take whatever job you can get and fight for the one you want. I landed a sales assistant role at Fox Television Stations — a national corporate office handling major accounts across all Fox affiliates. I made 300 cold calls a day and fought for four or five months before earning my way up. Then I took an account executive position at CW WAM in Rochester and started doing the work I came for.
Life took me through Georgia next — nearly two years in promotional apparel sales at Hartwell Apparel, working the West Coast territory. I didn’t build it from scratch — I raised it from the ashes. Working 11 to 7 every day and loving every minute of it. That’s also where my eye for clothing and branding got sharp — which is why Uncle Ron Shop exists today. I know the product because I lived the business.
Then the Caribbean pulled me in a direction I never planned and couldn’t leave.
Nearly 20 years in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Bartender. General Manager. Business owner. Community member. I worked at The Banana Deck in Cruz Bay, became Head Bartender at The Sandbar on St. Thomas, and ran North Shore Deli on St. John. Through all of it I stayed connected to content, social media, and local marketing — because that’s who I am, not just what I do.
I stayed through the hurricanes. I fed VIDOH nurses free lunch during COVID. I won the Governor’s Vax-to-Win lottery as a verified Virgin Islands resident who had been part of that community for two decades.
I made mistakes. I paid for them. And I kept going.
Now I’m back in Georgia building Uncle Ron Media from scratch — a marketing consulting company for small businesses in Northeast Georgia, Upstate South Carolina, and beyond that are tired of being overlooked. I’m doing this while working a factory floor on weekends and grinding every single day. I know what it costs to build something real because I’ve never done it any other way.
